Kathryn Card Kaufman

Kathryn Card KaufmanKathryn C. Kaufman is a founding Partner of New Magellan Venture Partners LLC. Prior to joining NMV, Kathryn was a defense policymaker in the Office of the Secretary of Defense where she oversaw the formulation and execution of U.S. national security policy at the highest levels. Kathryn has served as a Country Director at the Department of Defense as well as at the United States Embassy Beijing in both the Foreign Commercial Service Office and also in the Ambassador’s office as control officer for the Presidential Delegation to the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Prior to her service at the Pentagon, Ms Kaufman worked as an Associate in former Secretary of Defense, William Cohen’s consulting firm in Washington, DC where she focused on navigating government policies of the People’s Republic of China and structure for U.S. companies entering and expanding in the market. She has worked on Capitol Hill serving Senator Strom Thurmond and in the White House in the office of Political Affairs. From 2005 to 2007, Kathryn earned a Masters of International Relations with a focus on National Security at The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. She speaks Chinese (Mandarin) and earned her undergraduate degree from Boston College.
